Housekeeping & Understanding Expandi.io

  • To automate LinkedIn outreach, Expandi.io lets you upload a list of CSV leads OR search Sales Navigator.

  • For this example, we're going to be uploading a CSV list of leads.

  • When you upload a CSV, Expandi will ask you to map the Email column to their custom variable, {email} just like in Instantly/Smartlead etc.

  • We'll use this feature to our advantage below.

1. Begin at the Expandi dashboard.

2. Get your CSV List ready for uploading. For this example, we'll be using a CSV spreadsheet with First, Email, Domain columns. To send Response.ai Campaigns at scale, fully automated, we'll be creating a video campaign on Response.ai for those leads PRIOR to connecting with them.

  • "First Name": will be for the custom landing page, calling them out: 'Hey, Sarah!'

  • "Email" will be used as the domain ending (So, we'll be creating campaigns with a combination of: 1. Your Custom Domain & 2. their email, e.g. video.response.ai/[email protected])

  • "Website" is just the asset our AI will be scraping (in this example, we'll scrape Sarah's website, jafco.org.) but this doesn't need to be uploaded to Expandi.

NOTE: This is the pre-emptive method:

  • We're creating a campaign for all leads BEFORE connecting with them. This does use more credits as you need to create videos prior to launching the Expandi campaign.

You can save credits by manually creating videos for new connections by adding new leads to an existing Response.ai Campaign via CSV or manual entry. (Zaps coming soon.)

3. Now that we have our Email Column with the name 'Email', we're going to upload our example CSV & link up 'email' with Response.ai.

4. So, to upload your CSV list & make the pairing, head over to the 'Search' tab & at the top-right, click 'Add new search'.

5. We're going to choose "Imported by CSV".

6. We'll name our CSV upload "Example Response AI".

7. Next, pair up the columns as follows:

  • First name → first_name - (NEEDED)

  • Title → job_title

  • Company → company_name

  • Email → email - (NEEDED)

  • Person LinkedIn Url → profile_link - (NEEDED)

  • Website → skip

8. Now, wait a few moments for your list to be created on the left:

9. Now, you'll know you've done this correctly when you check the lead's data in the Placeholders tab, and their email is mapped as 'email'.

10. To launch your Response.ai Campaign on LinkedIn (so anyone who connects with you gets their personalized video!), head back over to the Campaigns Tab & click "Add campaign" top-right.

11. Go through the short process to create your Expandi.io Campaign (name it & choose 'Create without template". Write your first connection messages & click "Follow up message" when you're happy:

12. Now, when writing your first follow-up message, take your campaign link from Response.ai by going to the Campaign Dashboard, then clicking the Three Dots under a Campaign, & selecting "Public Link".

13. Here's what that window looks like:

14. In the "Message 1" box, start typing your body. I say something like: 'Good to connect with you, {first_name}!

  • Next, choose the Dynamic Placeholder button & choose 'email' as the placeholder.

15. You will then be prompted to type your body WITH and WITHOUT the {email} placeholder.

(For the WITHOUT box, I just say 'Can I send it?' but this will never be sent. Theoretically it's only sent if we don't have a lead's email, which is impossible (because we uploaded the CSV with their emails.)

16. Notice how, in my message, it's just the Campaign ID, my custom domain & the {email} to complete the link.

So, a lead receiving your Automated Message (e.g. called John from Salesforce) will see:

Breakdown of the link:

But all you need to write is: https://video.response.ai/243/{email}

This is quite a confusing integration because of the use of custom placeholders, so please reach out if you have any questions on the topic.
